In light of
this reality, steps must be taken to treat the
effects of destruction and reconstruct with the
following goals:
To ensure the fast return of people to their
residences and jobs, in which their return is
considered a natural continuation of their
lives, and a communication amongst each other
and their surroundings – a vivid communication
that is stronger than war -, so that the people
do not remain away from their homes, thereby
creating a gap in their social memory that is
difficult to fill, and so that the people can
preserve their emotional attachment to the
places they inhabited for many decades.

Options of Reconstruction |

After determining the
aforementioned goals of reconstruction,
researching for the best options that accomplish
these goals was a must. It is noteworthy that
several researches and thoughts were discussed
at the time, and most of these thoughts were
based on the caution, patriotism, and chivalry
for the area and its people. These options are
as follows:
Ownership of real estates and
collapsed buildings, and financial compensation
to their owners to buy alternative residential
units until further schemes are put and
constructed in a specific constructional vision.

Urban Design for the Region |

The project management has worked
with the advisory board, in cooperation with the
municipality of Haret Hurreikh, to develop the
urban design of the region in light of the
general policies of the project. The management
therefore set its work plan in accordance with
the following facts:
Identifying the problems suffered by the area in
question.
Gathering needed data including decrees and
resolutions adopted by the civil arrangement and
Haret Hurreikh Municipality (area system,
traffic plan, infrastructure, etc)
Setting appropriate solutions within available
capacities
