This is the Suburb, and years have passed since
the storm that hit it. This storm does not
resemble a Tsunami, but rather an Israeli storm.
At the aftermath of the July war of 2006, the
amount of mass destruction was revealed. 269
buildings in the Southern Suburban were turned
into dust.
The Suburban is the overpopulated area of
Southern Beirut that contains a number of
Southern Maten coast towns such as Haret
Hurreikh, Ghobeiry, Borj Barajneh, Chiah, and
others. It witnessed a troubled constructional
and popular growth during the Lebanese civil
war. As a result of the Southern Lebanese and
Bekaa migrations to the Suburb due to the
repeated Israeli invasions, and the absence of
security, this area soon became a part of the
social, constructional, and economic body of
Beirut, an entrance to it, and a space of
natural expansion.
