Assessment of the types and sizes of in-kind aids

The total number of in-kind aids transmitted to Lebanon through different land and sea crossings, was 558 shipments for the timeline between 22 July and 31 August 2006. Those shipments were registered at the Lebanese Customs administration under the title of "in kind aids and donation".
The aid provided to Lebanon varied, and it wasn’t always possible to identify the quality and quantity of the imported good to mixing them together. Many of the shipments included various goods and supplies such as tents, food, medicines, cloths, blankets, and kitchen sets etc… Therefore it was impossible to determine the quantities or numbers contained due to the lack of detailed information and documents attached by the donor on one hand, and the need to expedite the input of these supplies on another hand.
The difficulties mainly focused on determining the types and quantities, especially on the aids and donations presented by non-governmental organizations and form Lebanese communities in countries abroad. This mixing between the supplies and material did not allow any financial estimation, especially for the aid imported right until August 13, 2006.
However, adopting simplifies A and B models, starting from August 14 2006, helped in increases the accuracy in specifying the quantities and materialistic value of those aids distributed.
